Communications Officer

The Communication Officer is responsible for the provision of high quality communication and public relations for key projects and initiatives to internal and external audiences.

  • Start: March 2026
  • Contract Length: 2 ½ months
  • Hours: 35 hours per week, 9 day fortnight
  • Location: Wyong NSW


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Campaigning: Support the delivery of sustained public relations campaigns and project communication plans.

  • Content Creation: Accurately prepare a wide range of materials including media statements, brochures, website copy, and social media content.

  • Media Relations: Prepare and distribute media releases to local and specialist media outlets.

  • Advisory: Provide specialist advice to stakeholders on communication issues and staff engagement initiatives.

  • Community Engagement: Monitor community sentiment and develop feedback processes to encourage local interest in organizational activities.


Skills & Experience Required

  • Education: A degree in Communications, Media, Marketing, or a related field; or significant contemporary experience in a similar role with a commitment to ongoing professional development.

  • Sector Background: Essential experience within Local Government, State Government, or a large Corporate sector.

  • Political Acumen: Proven ability to provide strategic political advice and navigate the nuances of high-profile corporate communications.

  • Media & Public Relations: Extensive experience in media relations, public relations, and corporate communications.

  • Strategic Campaigns: A track record of managing and delivering complex, end-to-end communication campaigns that meet defined objectives.

  • Digital Proficiency: Skilled in digital communication activities, including eNews, intranet, and website management.

  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple communication projects with strict deadlines and defined objectives.

  • Stakeholder Management: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Resilience & Agility: Adaptable and focused in fast-paced environments; you remain professional when handling conflict or shifting priorities.
